Eco-gardening
“Whether you’re a seasoned grower or have never touched a spade, there’s a place for you in this garden.”
Wende Brand
At Vale das Borboletas, gardening is about more than just growing food — it’s about building community, embracing change, and shaping a more inclusive future.
Our gardens are a bit wild, rich with life and meaning. We don’t aim for perfection or control. Instead, we work with care, flexibility, and feeling. We call it queer gardening: collaborative, hands-on, and rooted in real connection.
Farming here isn’t about doing things fast or efficiently. It’s about slowing down, working with the land, supporting each other, and staying present through every season. We compost outdated ideas and plant new possibilities. We grow together — with dirt under our nails and stories in our hands.
The land gives us what it can: dry soil, strong winds, old olive trees. And we bring what we have: joy, care, and the simple act of showing up.
